Running Sunday morning tapes at my hometown radio station in 1975 Any entertainment background you want to include?
Yeah, but I don't have any....Wait! I had a role in my senior play...only play in GHS history to be called back for a 3rd performance during the week! Ta Da!!!

BILLY

When and where were you born?
December 11. Gastonia, NC

Hometown and high school?
Gastonia, NC, Hunter Huss High

Education?
National School of Broadcasting, Atlanta, Ga. (Sort of like a truck driver training school for radio people.)

Hobbies as a child?
Cartooning, avoiding the pummeling fists of the bigger kids when they found out I was cartooning.

Favorite food?
The filet at Ruth?s Chris Steak House in Richmond, Va.

Favorite movie?
This is gonna sound totally geeky, but the original Star Wars probably made the biggest impression on me when I first saw it. Other movies I'll usually sit down for if I run across them on TV: Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, Bonnie & Clyde, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Fail-Safe, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Office Space, and most anything with Gene Hackman, Robert Duvall, or Morgan Freeman in it.

Favorite song?
"End of a Long Goodbye" by Ashley Cleveland, a really great rock gospel performer from Nashville. She'll sometimes pop up on the "Live at the Bluebird" show on the Turner South cable channel. (And no, she's not a friend of mine.)

Current hobbies?
Tivo ROCKS! (Now if I could only find time to actually watch all the stuff I record...) I'm also a Mac head who spends a lot of time web surfing.

Duties with The Big Show?
Big Show co-host, writer, voice guy, and occasional word caddy to John Boy. ("Why don't you try this one, sir?")

How did you start in this business?
Attended a small technical school in Atlanta. First job was the afternoon show at WADA-AM in Shelby, NC.

Any entertainment background you want to include?
Aside from a couple of plays in high school drama class, no. (If any of us had any legitimate entertainment background, we'd probably be over-qualified for the show.)

Any odd habits?
How much time ya got? My entire life is an odd habit.

Are you married, and if so, how long?
Yes, to Polly, building quality since 1986.

Children...first names and ages?
David, 12. Andy, 10

Pets?
One dog: a strange sort of terrier mix we got from the pound, named Mackie. The kids also have a frog named Fred, and a dwarf bunny named Paco.

What famous person would you like to meet?
Jesus Christ. (Being in this business has taught me that if it were anyone else, I might run the risk of being disappointed.)

If you could be any one person for a day...who would it be?
Dr. Hercules Rockefeller - former Mr. Universe turned billionaire gynecologist.

First car?
1967 Volkswagen Beetle

First job?
Handyman/gofer at the Scottish Inn Motel just off Interstate 85 in my hometown. (Don't let the glamorous title fool you - it actually wasn't that great a job.)

Favorite saying?
'Always remember: it ain?t what they call you ? it?s what you answer to.'

Best memory on the show?
Too many to list. Though that time everyone else in the studio was convinced that special guest Tia Carrere had a crush on me was kinda cool.

Most interesting guest?
Tim Wilson ? one person you don?t mind letting dominate the conversation.

Hopes for the future?
That my kids don?t turn out too crazy, and that my wife continues to put up with me. Everything else will be gravy at this point
