Having grown up in Upstate New York listening to TOP 40 WABC back in the 60's & 70's, I became a Big DAN INGRAM fan. He made it sound like so much fun I decided that If that's a job, that's what I want to get paid to do. I graduated from Connecticut School Of Broadcasting in 1979, then headed to Daytona Beach in 1980 where I got my first gig at a Small AM Daytimer. (Yes, in that day we actually had to sign-off the air at Sunset!) I became Program Director at (then oldies) WZIP (1590) and went on to later gigs at WNDB, Love 94.5 (now WCFB), WSBB, WOCL, WWEZ, WELE, WCCZ and WGNE. I was Music Director for (then Country) 1380 WELE about the time Garth Brooks & the next new wave of country artists came along.
About the time WELE was sold, WGNE was coming on the air with a country format, so I made the move back to FM and spent about 7 Years at WGNE. Since leaving WGNE in late '96, I remained very actively involved with country music and several internet projects. In the spring of 2007, I got a call from KINGBIRD. He told me that KRO Country was looking for another personality and I decided to go for it. I'm very excited with the commitment that Black Crow Media has shown not only to the Daytona Beacha area, but also to country music, and to all those Children & Families of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
I'm excited that the KRO carries the NASCAR Sprint Cup racing series live on Sundays. Now I won't have to miss a race! I can tell my friends I will be at the KRO for the races! Also, I love BASEBALL, I'm a Huge New York Yankees and Derek Jeter Fan! I also love the Daytona Cubs! I have become involved with the YMCA, Volusia County Library, and I like to walk and work-out in my Spare Time. I enjoy movies as well. My favorites are Jet Li, Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage. On the tube besides being a News Addict (CNN) Lou Dobbs is the Best! I really enjoy the learning channels like National Geographic and Discovery. As for music, I am really excited about how programs such as "American Idol" & "Nashville Star" have given many young artists a chance to realize their dreams.
Though I will always be a Reba, Garth and George Strait fan, I believe we are starting to see another new chapter unfold in country music history with the addition of Kristy Lee Cook,Julianne Hough, Jason Aldean,The Lost Trailers,Ashton Shepherd,Crystal Shawanda,Chuck Wicks & Rascal Flatts . With these great artists, country music will remain alive and well for our next generation. |
